From 1998 to 1999 Activated Image operated as a student drama company, producing two shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with a strong emphasis on multimedia.
 

Our modern-day take on Shakespeare’s The Tempest combined live and pre- recorded video footage, a “thumpingly impressive” (Three Weeks) drum 'n' bass soundtrack, and a company of exceptional young actors to become a must-see show of the 1998 Edinburgh Fringe.
